GoDaddy domain names are $8.99 - $9.99 per year. They have continuous discount coupons so you can get the first year a few dollars less.

The most valuable benefit is customer service. As a top-level registrar, if you have trouble with domain name issues, they will help directly.

Be aware of registering a domain name with a registrar that is not a top-level registrar. They can register a domain name for less money because they are a reseller for a top-level registrar and provide basic support issues. If you should have problems with the domain, they refer you to their provider. It's a hassle you don't want to go through.
